Sox tidbits after game 6 ALCS - Jacoby

...general manager Theo Epstein had told Francona after Game 3 that he would not be opposed to the manager replacing Crisp with Ellsbury.

Jacoby's mother, Margie, said the family plans to make the trip from Oregon to Boston if the Red Sox reach the World Series.

"Word has spread like wildfire about Jacoby being in the lineup," she wrote in an e-mail. "We're all excited. I have total confidence in Jacoby . . . He's prepared for this all his life. He's ready to take on this bigger stage.

"My family, from near and far, and friends are anxiously awaiting for this game to begin. In talking with my co-workers and other local people . . . it's funny how they've never been into baseball but since October have been watching every game of the Red Sox and are totally into it! . . . We are rooting for every Red Sox player, every Red Sox pitcher and so forth. It's awesome that the Red Sox and fans have been supportive and accepting of the newcomers to the team."
